HighStep Systems wins Swissgrid tender

Dietikon ZH – HighStep Systems AG has been awarded a tender by Swissgrid for the first time. Climb protection systems are now being installed on 80 masts to enable efficient, safe and ergonomic ascent and descent. HighStep Systems AG, based in Dietikon, has won the public tender from the transmission system operator Swissgrid for the 220 kilovolt line Sedrun – Tavanasa in Graubünden. This involves the delivery of rise and fall protection systems for overhead lines, for which HighStep Systems is now providing its rail system. Employees should be able to climb up and down in an efficient, safe and ergonomic manner and increase their overall safety and productivity. HighStep Systems wants to install the 80 masts step by step, in the middle of the mast wall. The work should be completed in April or May 2023. Commenting on the award, the CEO of HighStep Systems AG, Alexander Luft, says: “We are very pleased to have won the public tender for the fall arrest system for the Sedrun – Tavanasa project and thus to be able to make a contribution to Swissgrid’s occupational safety. It shows that our system is not only extremely competitive, but also that we were best able to meet the high requirements of the project.” In addition to mainly economic reasons, availability of delivery, safety and ease of installation played an important role. The HighStep system consists of two components: an aluminum rail as a system support and a selectable climbing device. HighStep Easy works with the help of two independent pedals, while HighStep Lift works as a mobile service lift. In terms of application, the focus is on electricity pylons, wind turbines, transmission towers and industrial facilities. There are several thousand installations in operation worldwide - primarily in Europe and also Asian countries. In addition to Swissgrid, customers include the European high-voltage grid operator TenneT and the Chinese energy company State Grid Corporation of China.
