For the transmission system operator 50Hertz, HighStep Systems On the Preilack–Streumen overhead power line, fall protection and installation were realized from a single source: the HighStep rail on 15 high-voltage pylons, installed by our own installation team. The success of the combination of system and installation service is demonstrated by the direct follow-up order for 53 additional pylons.
The project: Retrofitting fall protection to the Preilack–Streumen overhead power line
The Preilack–Streumen overhead power line is part of the 50Hertz transmission network in eastern Germany. During work on the line in Brandenburg, the high-voltage pylons were equipped with a modern fall protection system – ensuring safe, continuous access for inspection, maintenance, and rescue operations. The work was commissioned to LTB Leitungsbau GmbH, which HighStep Systems for delivery and Assembly of the system included.

The challenge: Secure access throughout the entire lifespan
Access to high-voltage pylons places high demands on safety, ergonomics, and efficiency. A solution was needed that would provide lasting protection while also integrating efficiently into ongoing power line construction.
- Safety on every ascent: Inspection, maintenance and rescue operations require reliable fall protection – without compromise.
- Efficiency within a tight timeframe: The assembly must be carried out quickly and on schedule so as not to slow down the construction process.
- Uniform standard on many masts: The same proven solution will be used across more than 15 – and in the future 53 – masts.
Fall protection and installation from a single source
The Preilack–Streumen project demonstrates how safe, efficient, and coordinated fall protection can be when the system and installation are provided by a single partner.
