Project Overview
Highstep Systems, in collaboration with its end customer ICA, successfully completed its first project in the deep-freeze sector. The particular challenges of this project included the extreme ambient temperature of -25 °C and a reduced-oxygen work area.
Challenges in the frozen food sector
Operating in a deep-freeze area places special demands on both humans and machines. Temperatures of -25°C and reduced oxygen levels make work extremely difficult for personnel. Employees are therefore only allowed to stay in this area for a limited time, which significantly impacts efficiency and workflow.
Innovative solution by Highstep Systems
Highstep Systems developed a flexible and innovative solution specifically tailored to these conditions:
- Battery-assisted climbing system: The lift remains permanently in the freezer area, while only the battery is carried by the staff. This minimizes stress on employees and enables quick and efficient deployment.
- High mobility: The lift is portable and, thanks to its wheels, can be easily moved from one aisle to another. A single lift can therefore serve multiple stacker cranes.
